Bills Mafia is notorious around the NFL and country for having some of the rowdiest and craziest fans in all of the NFL. Everybody knows the tailgating and gameday antics on any given Sunday in Orchard Park starting around the early morning hours. You can walk around the tailgating lots and find someone on top of a car, van, RV or maybe even a school bus getting ready to send their body through a table like a WWE superstar.
The national media has highlighted Bills Mafia recklessness time and time again. While I’m all for crushing some Labatt’s (responsibly) and jumping through tables, I’d like to take a look back on BillsMafia’s generosity and almost philanthropist-like work.
This year, when tragedy rocked Buffalo as a gunman went to Tops and killed 10 people and injured 3 others in a racially motivated attack, BillsMafia chose love. Through the Bills, Sabres, and Bandits over 1 million dollars was donated to help the victims of this heinous crime.
You can go back to 2014, when Bills Mafia looked out for one of their own, Bills legendary linebacker Daryl Talley. It was revealed Talley was suffering from medical issues due to his playing days. He was having trouble dealing with pain and brain trauma. Unfortunately, Talley was also struggling financially. Bills Mafia stepped up and raised over $150,000 dollars for the Bills legend. Last season, when Bills star cornerback and Louisiana native, Tre’Davious White, tore his ACL on Thanksgiving Day against the Saints, BillsMafia stepped up again donating over $120,000 to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.
Bills Mafia’s generosity isn’t just limited to star players on their own team. In 2017, Bengals QB Andy Dalton became a Buffalo legend when a last second touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd sent the Baltimore Ravens home and the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years, then the longest drought in all Major American league sports. To show their gratitude for helping end 17 long years of frustration and pain, BillsMafia donated over $440,000 dollars to the Andy and Jordan Dalton foundation. They also showed love to another AFC North quarterback in the Ravens Lamar Jackson. In 2021 the Bills defeated the Ravens (17-3) in the divisional round of the playoffs. Jackson had to leave the game in the third quarter after suffering a concussion. BillsMafia wished Jackson a speedy recovery and donated over 450,000 dollars to Jackson’s charity Blessings in a Backpack. These acts of kindness even inspired other fans around the league to express their generosity. After last year’s crushing playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, which will forever be remembered as 13 seconds. Chiefs fans donated 479,000 dollars to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.
BillsMafia has also donated tons of money to Oishei Children’s Hospital after Josh Allen’s grandmother Patricia Allen passed away. BillsMafia donated 1.1 million dollars to Oishei Children’s Hospital, donating so much money that the Hospital named a wing on the 10th floor the “Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing”. BillsMafia also helped raise over 100,000 dollars for Josh Allen’s former High School in Firebaugh, California.
Earlier this year when tragedy struck BillsMafia showed their support as Luke Knox, the younger brother of stud tight end Dawson Knox, passed away. Bill’s Mafia donated over 185,000 dollars to Knox’s charity the P.U.N.T Pediatric Cancer. That wasn’t the first time Bill’s Mafia showed love to Dawson Knox. On the podcast Bussin with the Boys they had an episode featuring George Kittle. Kittle went on the air talking about how at Tight End U they were working with Bridgestone to raise funds for local boys and girls clubs in NFL markets. Kittle explained how Bill’s Mafia blew all other markets out of the water, donating over 50 K to Dawson Knox. The next closest player was at 38k and after that the next closest guy was around 4k. This just highlights Bills mafia’s generosity and the genuine love for players on the team as compared to other teams and fan bases around the league.
Bills Mafia made donations to the American Heart Association to show support for Star receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs’s father passed away when Diggs was just 14 to congestive heart failure. Over 20,000 dollars was donated. Bills Mafia donated over 65 thousand dollars to the Visually Impaired Advancement when refs missed a blatant pass interference call costing the Bills a close game in Tampa bay last year. Seems like the refs are always on Brady’s side but I digress.
I’m sure there are other donations and acts of kindness I am missing, but if you lost count–since just 2017 alone BillsMafia has donated in total over 3.5 million dollars. A truly staggering amount from the best fans in all of football.
