Vlad Guerrero Jr destroys a car window with batting practice home run

Everyone who has driven in Downtown Buffalo and used the Oak Street I-190 entrance has had the thought of a baseball being hit at their car as they navigate beyond the left field screen.

One lucky (or unlucky, but I’d LOVE for Vladdy to hit me a home run even if it destroyed my window because that’s what insurance is for) passerby had that become their reality on Wednesday before the Buffalo Blue Jays hosted the New York Yankees. A Vladimir Guerrero Jr. home run went over the screen and through the passenger window of a woman’s car as she prepared to make the turn onto Seneca Street.

The left field line at Sahlen Field measures in at 325-feet with a 30+ foot net setup a few feet beyond the fence to try to contain the balls from reaching the street. The netting was not enough to contain Vladdy as he hit the ball across the four lanes of traffic to strike a car making a left hand turn off the one-way street. I’d say that was at least a 450-feet BOMB, which is something we’ve already seen from Vladdy this year.

Since hearing about this, I’ve been contemplating circling the stadium all game long in hopes that Vladdy will do it again and bless me with a Plakata! At just 22-years-old, Vladdy is on a season pace that would best even Mike Trout’s best seasons. There’s a very good chance that Vlad will be getting MVP votes this year and if he wins it, you’ll have to toss his name in the mix to be the “face of baseball.”

Now let’s hope Vladdy does it again, but actually during the game so we all get a chance to see the power of plakata!
