Bills and Chiefs Deliver OT Thriller of Drama and Controversy

Fans everywhere held their breath as they watched an absolute slug fest on Sunday night.

The Chiefs take down the Bills in an overtime thriller 42-36. However, a lot of people disagree with the OT rules and the way the game gets diminished. The Chiefs win the coin toss and go on to win in overtime in a disappointing fashion in relation to the entirety of the game. There is a lot of controversy on the way that OT works.

Josh Allen in regulation was 27/37, 329 yards, 4 TD’s and no turnovers and didn’t even get an opportunity to win the game for his team in OT. Here’s what some people had to say about this fiasco:

Including Josh Allen’s mature take on the matter:

The Allen to Davis connection went NUCLEAR all night long. The hookup brought four (4!!!) TD’s to the duo. Davis went 8 rec / 201 yards / 4 TD’s for a historic playoff performance. He also added “caught a body” to his statline:

Despite the outcome, this game will go down as arguably one of the best of all time.  In the last two minutes of regulation there were 24 points scored and three lead changes to result in overtime. With these two generationally talented quarterbacks you can never count them out.

Simply too much time:

In a game that allowed for 78 total points it was apparent that defense struggled to guard much of anything. Stefon Diggs might have had the best defensive play of the night when a fan rushed onto the field:

On the Chiefs side of things there was plenty of controversy including HC Andy Reid and WR Tyreek Hill.

According to Adam Schefter, Reid told Mahomes to “be the grim reaper”. I simply do not believe that this could have ever been thought of on the spot.

There needs to be some overall evaluation at some of the calls and rulings on the field during this offseason. Tyreek Hill with a clear taunting call as he flashes the peace sign at the Bills secondary as he runs in for a touchdown is a prime example. This action has been seen elsewhere during the season and was always a call but during this shootout, no call.

The battle for the AFC just gets stronger and the lore continues to grow. For now, we grow through the pain and look for brighter days ahead. This conference is going to be an all out war for many years to come and I am looking forward to the storylines just getting sweeter and sweeter.
