We have made it to 2022 The Memorial Tournament. This is one of my favorite events because the course is so beautiful and always puts on a show for the viewers. The venue is Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin Ohio – Jack Nicklaus’ course. It’s not impossible to go low at Jack’s Place but it is very common to see some pretty high scores.

Last year this tournament was riddled with asterisks as Jon Rahm had a commanding six shot lead after his second round, but was forced to withdraw from the event due to a positive Covid test. Rahm, the 2020 Memorial Champion, was running away with the tournament and looking great to repeat as champion until he asymptomatically tested positive.

Needless to say I think Jon Rahm at +1000 (the favorite) is a solid pick this week because he seems to play so well at this course. I won’t be cheering for him because he’s a Spaniard and I’d rather see an American win,, but I would be pretty happy for him if he could overcome last year’s bizarre situation. Rahm is also quietly having a solid year, sitting at 11th in the FedEx Cup Standings.

Patrick Cantlay comes into this tournament as the reigning champion, but I don’t love his chances to repeat. I wouldn’t be entirely shocked, but it’s just not something I can see happening. Collin Morikawa on the other hand, who Cantlay defeated in a playoff last year, I love this week at +2200 to win

My long shot for this tournament is Rickie Fowler, he played well here last year with a T-11 finish. His odds to win are +12500 but I am more focused on the Top 40 +110 odds.

As far as Muirfield Village goes, its track record speaks for itself. The annual tour stop has also hosted the Ryder Cup and the President’s Cup. The opportunity to get a firm handshake from Mr. Jack Nicklaus and to earn his approval certainly adds a lot of pressure when playing there. With all of this being said, there’s a ton of things I like this week going into this event.

Here are some of my favorites things that stand out to me in list format:

– 0.5 Unit on Jon Rahm to win +1000
– 2 Units on Jon Rahm to finish Top 10 +100
– 0.5 Unit on Collin Morikawa to win +2200
– 2 Units on Collin Morikawa to finish Top 20 -110
– 0.25 Unit on Rickie Fowler to win +12500
– 1 Unit on Rickie Fowler to finish Top 20 +300
– 3 Units on Rickie Fowler to finish Top 40 +110
– 1 Unit on Max Homa to finish Top 20 +150
