MitchyKnows Recaps Nashville and Gives Picks for the Weekend

This past week, the Buffalo Bills headed to Nashville, Tennessee accompanied by a caravan of mafia members to take on the Tennessee Titans. Broadway in Downtown Nashville was flooded with royal blue and red for four straight days and nights. Each bar you walked past or went into, you were hearing the shout song played by every band performing. No matter what bar you were in, you were standing shoulder to shoulder with someone in Bills gear.

Multiple bar owners and bartenders were saying how they have never seen a fan base take over the city like the people of Buffalo did. The tailgate on Monday before the game was a blast too. There must of been 30,000 Bills fans packed into the lot capping off their weekend before the game started. The bar at the tailgate to get unlimited drinks was a mile long, people were jumping through tables, everyone was having a great time. The trip to Nashville felt like the city of Buffalo letting off almost 2 years of quarantine steam. This was my first time visiting Music City and I must say, it absolutely lived up to the hype.

Sitting in Nissan Stadium, I thought it was clear that Bills Mafia outweighed Titans fans. The Bills should’ve punched in two touchdowns early in the first quarter, but had to settle for two field goals. Then Derrick Henry happened. Henry busted through the line like a damn slingshot and ran for a 76-yard touchdown to give the Titans a 7-6 lead. Granted, there were at least three holding penalties that weren’t called on that play, but the Bills still played a great offensive half. They were leading 20-17 heading into halftime where the only play that hurt them on defense was the Henry touchdown.

The second half of the game turned into what felt like whichever team had the ball last was going to win the game. Neither defense could stop a nose bleed at that point. Derrick Henry is the greatest running back I have seen in person. He just gets better as the game goes on.

The Bills were driving in the last two minutes and had the ball on Tennessee’s 4-yard line with 4th-and-inches. McDermott decided to try to win the game right then and there instead of putting the game in the hands of a coin flip in overtime. Josh Allen has the best quarterback sneak efficiency in the NFL. Everyone knew it was the right call in that situation, but Dawkins gets blown up off the ball right into Josh and Josh falls down short of the marker and that’s the ball game.

It was a tough pill to swallow as fans poured over the bridge and back onto Broadway, but we knew we were an inch away from being a 5-1 football team. All in all, it was a crazy football game, the Bills looked good, and we will be just fine after this bye week by having the Dolphins, Jaguars, and Jets to play in the three weeks following. All in all, it was an incredible weekend with great people and I can’t wait to see which city Bills Mafia takes over next season.
