Did Matt Bové Assemble the Worst Disney Top 10 Songs List of All Time? Many Are Saying…Yes.

I wanna start by saying one thing. I do (contrary to how this article may sound) like and respect Matt Bové. He’s been nothing but gracious to me and this organization, and always treated everyone with respect. For the last 10 years I’ve been trying to put together a parlay to buy a house, meanwhile he’s parlayed ‘Party in the USA,’ Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle and answering 10 questions every so often, into not just a cushy Sports Director gig but a lovely family to hang his Buff State Bengals hat on.

However, that’s where the respect ends and the questioning begins. I was trying to enjoy my Tuesday (a monumental task by any form of consideration) when I came upon this egregious ‘Top 10 Songs from Disney Movies’ list from Mr. Bové.

I don’t know if this has happened since the Chan Gailey era, but this list of options and rankings left me at a loss for words, it took my breathe away (something which as an asthmatic I could charge Matt with) and not in a good way. Let’s take a look at at my biggest issues with the rankings and where Matt stopped being right, and decidedly went WRONG.

#1 – Putting ‘Circle of Life’ at #1

Now I know what you’re saying Maniac… “Go easy on Matt, this is clearly just the honeymoon effect of his newborn baby, causing Matt to succumb to the primal urges of recognizing this crazy path we are all on. I say…Fuck that. This pick has all the inspiration of a 4th grade Chernobyl diorama, I mean did Matt just pick the very first song in the very first Disney movie people see? I’m not saying that but many are.

#2 – Including ‘Remember Me’ on this list

Now, just like the end of every Knives Out movie, this pick does make since when you consider all the evidence. You can imagine Matt, getting ready to leave his Grand Island mansion for the Sabres 3rd consecutive cup run on June 1st, 2028 (weather approximately 47 degrees with some overcast) and singing ‘Remember Me’ to his little kiddos. Meanwhile, Matt has ranked a Disney song that has little Disney vibe and is barely 60 seconds long in his Top 10. Nuf said.

#3 – Playing Depth When He Should Be Playing Starters

For the most part, Matt’s movie picks as far as songs are good, but what is with some of these picks? No one with a Disney IQ above 77 would rank ‘Circle of Life’ or ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ above ‘Hakuna Matata’ or ‘I Just Can’t Wait to be King’.. hell even ‘Be Prepared’ would outrank those 2 in most Club 33 circles. How about starting ‘A Whole New World’ and leaving ‘Friend Like Me’ riding the pine? This shit is absolutely unacceptable.

Again, these are just some universal qualms that met Matthew when he released this atrocity. Hopefully, like all parents, he will learn and adjust as he goes.
