College Football Week 2: Best Bets to Lock In

Folks… we’re already in it. College Football Week 2 is here, and the chaos is only just beginning. Week 1 gave us the full experience — big swings, broken dreams, and a solid 2-1 start on my best bets (shoutout to those who tailed). Now we reload.

This week, I’m not alone. Our guy Jake Majka is joining the action with his five favorite plays for the day, giving you EIGHT total picks to ride with.

We’re still early in the season — still sorting out who’s legit and who just looked good in warmups. But that’s what makes Week 2 fun. The lines are still soft. The overreactions are flying. And if you know where to look, there’s money to be made.

Here are our picks for College Football Week 2. Let’s keep it rolling, Let’s get weird, & Let’s get paid…And Go Blue.

MEREKAT’S 1st PICK: BAYLOR +2.5 vs. SMU (-102) – 1 Unit

Baylor came in as a massive underdog but swift early action quickly reduced the line from +5 down to +2.5, showing broad market strength. As distinct from evenly divided ticket action, Baylor has garnered a gigantic percentage of the overall money — a classic sharp betting pattern.

The Bears offense was explosive in Week 1 by generating over 480 yards and a breakout performance by QB Sawyer Robertson. SMU’s defense is switching starters from the front seven, which presents a possible matchup clash. With momentum, motivation, and market action on its side, Baylor +2.5 — and a moneyline sprinkle for good measure — offers great value.

MEREKAT’S 2nd PICK: OHIO +3.5 vs. West Virginia (-108) – 1 Unit

Ohio, the defending MAC conference champion, was an upset shy of knocking off Rutgers last week and now gets a tasty home game against West Virginia. The Bobcats started as a +3.5 underdog but analytics and betting models reflect real upset possibilities by Ohio, and models such as SportsLine’s FPI select the outright Ohio win.

QB Parker Navarro demonstrated double-threat capability by throwing 3 passes for touchdowns and running for just shy of 100 yards in Week 1, and RB Sieh Bangura offers balance for an already highly productive offense

A week ago, West Virginia annihilated an FCS conference team in its opening matchup but there exist questions concerning how reliable they are on the road. With key action tipping toward Ohio and a live underdog situation, the +3.5 by the Bobcats and indeed the moneyline have excellent gambling value.

MEREKAT’S 3rd PICK: NAVY -21 vs. UAB (-110) – 1 Unit

We took Navy last week and they didn’t disappoint — the Midshipmen are for real. Navy is a three-touchdown favorite entering Week 2 against UAB, and historical precedent dictates the Midshipmen will cover by a comfortable margin.

The Midshipmen have beaten the spread handily the last couple of years, winning 31–6 and 41–18. UAB’s defense just gave up over 200 rushing yards to an FCS school, and that’s a poor omen against Navy’s triple-option and QB Blake Horvath.

Smart money has gone with Navy despite the large margin, and with UAB not exactly on fire under Trent Dilfer, another lopsided outcome is likely. Laying -21 with Navy has market movement and recent head-to-head matchups on its side.

JAKE’S 1st PICK: TEXAS TECH -48.5 vs. Kent State (-115)

I’m fading my Alma mater Kent State. As electric as last Saturday was – Kent’s first win in almost two years(!!!) they won by 4 points against an FCS school and now head on the road to a top 25 team… it might end up 70-0.

JAKE’S 2nd PICK: ILLINOIS -2.5 vs. Duke (-112)

The Illini are for real. They might not be able to be a 10-win team in the Big Ten just yet, but their physicality allows them to dominate lesser opponents. Duke is solid, but this spread is too low for how good I feel about this years Illinois squad. Illinois wins by at least a TD.

JAKE’S 3rd PICK: WEST VIRGINIA -3.5 vs. Ohio (-102)

I’m sorry Mike Bundt. I believe in Rich Rod. Ohio was impressive on the road at Minnesota, but I think this West Virginia team will only get better as the year goes on under their old but new again head coach. I’ll take this opportunity to pick a Big12 team as a single digit favorite over a MAC school, even if I feel dirty doing it.

JAKE’S 4th PICK: SOUTH FLORIDA +18.5 vs. Florida (-118)

South Florida provided the first shocker of tz Ashton Jeanty is tough, but no one expected the BEAT DOWN South Florida put on them in Tampa. On the flip side, Florida faces LSU, Miami and Texas after this game. Could be a classic LOOK AHEAD spot.

JAKE’S 5th PICK: MICHIGAN +4.5 vs. Oklahoma (-105)

I believe Michigan is gonna be one of the best teams in the country again this year. Bryce Underwood getting his first road start doesn’t scare me as much with this team because we know they’ll lean on an awesome run game and offensive line to make it easy for him. And while Oklahoma is primed for a better year than last, I think the Wolverines at least keep this game within a field goal, if not win outright.

There it is — our EIGHT best bets for College Football Week 2, with Jake Majka jumping in to double the firepower.

We went 2-1 last week, and now we’re seeing the board a little clearer, reading into what’s real and what was just Week 1 noise. The public’s already overreacting, and we’re more than happy to fade the hysteria.

Some lines are still wild. Some are straight up traps. But we’ve got a mix of smart spots, gutsy picks, and plays we genuinely love today.

Appreciate you riding with us. Big thanks to Jake for joining the squad this week — let’s make some money and keep this thing rolling.

Bet smart. Bet bold. Let’s ride.
