Carve’s Call: Dalton Kincaid is in the Midst of a Breakout Season

Following a 2024 campaign that saw the tight end hampered by knee injuries, it appears Dalton Kincaid is in the early stages of having a breakout year.

The 2023 25th overall selection was known for his athleticism, reliable hands, and smooth route running coming out of college. In Kincaid’s rookie season, the 6’4 tight end flashed just that, tallying 73 receptions, 673 yards and two touchdowns. The 73 receptions rank fifth most in a season for a rookie tight end all-time.

Editor’s Note: Kincaid scores on a fake screen, switch-peel (post-wheel) look, makes a tremendous catch on a difficult throw, and shows off the run after catch by punching it into the endzone.

In 2024, the Utah product was limited to just 13 regular-season games thanks to knee injuries. The knee injuries ultimately carried over into his production as he posted just 44 catches for 448 yards and two touchdowns. On top of all that, Kincaid had a devastating drop in the dying stages of the fourth quarter, in the 32-29 AFC Championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Through the first three games of the season, it appears Kincaid has used last season as motivation and is aiming for a breakout season. In the first three contests of the year, Kincaid has filed 13 receptions on 16 targets, 151 yards, and two touchdowns. The 25-year-old is currently on pace for career-highs in receptions (74), yards (856), and touchdowns (11). Kincaid sits only behind Keon Coleman for the team lead in receptions and yards, while leading the team in touchdown receptions and yards after catch.

Editor’s Note: Kincaid also showcases his blocking ability by getting out in space on an RPO and delivering a pancake.

If Kincaid can stay healthy, 2025 will be marked as his breakout year.
