Carve’s Call: Five Players the Buffalo Bills Could Trade For

With two humbling upset losses in a row, and sitting at 4-2 with an upcoming bye week, it’s clear the Buffalo Bills roster has holes. Offensively, the Bills could use a receiver who can stretch the field, and defensively, the Bills need support in the secondary and at the linebacker position. Here are five players that Buffalo should explore as trade targets.

PLAYER #1: TARIQ WOOLEN, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Likely Return: Mid + Late Round Pick

The Seahawks’ 26-year-old corner could make perfect sense for the Bills. After recording 11 interceptions in his first three seasons and being voted as the 91st best player in football in 2024, Woolen has taken a significant step back in 2025. Woolen surrendered a 111.2 passer rating when targeted, failed to record an interception, and missed tackles at a rate of 23.8% according to PFF. With a logjam of corners in Seattle, the 6’4 corners $5.4M cap hit could be in the Bills’ ballpark.

PLAYER #2: DEMARIO DAVIS, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Likely Return: Mid-Late Round Pick

Buffalo’s linebackers have failed to stay healthy in recent memory. Matt Milano, once again, is battling a pec injury, while Terrel Bernard suffered an ankle injury on Monday night. Overcoming linebacker injuries can be tough. The 36-year-old outside linebacker from the Saints still plays against the run at a high level. According to PFF, Davis tallied 19 stops against the run entering Week 6. The five-time All-Pro’s 51 tackles would be by far the most on the Bills (Bernard, 30). Davis has just under a $7M cap hit this season, and could drastically help the 32nd-ranked run defense.

PLAYER #3: TONY ADAMS, NEW YORK JETS

Likely Return: Late Round Pick

Entering the season, safety was a major question mark for the Bills. Entering the Bills’ bye week in Week 7, it’s still a major question mark for the team. According to PFF, Buffalo’s safeties group is graded 26th in the league. Adams, a 26-year-old safety, started 31 games through his first three seasons with the Jets, tallying 200+ tackles, nine tackles for loss, four interceptions, and a sack. The safety currently holds a $3.2M cap hit, well within Buffalo’s budget.

PLAYER #4: BRANDIN COOKS, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Likely Return: Late Round Pick

The whole Saints wide receiver core is interesting. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed both make sense; however, if New Orleans isn’t comfortable moving either of them, Brandin Cooks should be in play. The speedy Cooks filed 13 receptions for 124 yards this season. The fit with Cooks makes sense for Buffalo. The Bills lack a speedy wideout that can stretch the field, and Cooks could serve as just that.

PLAYER #5: ADONAI MITCHELL, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Likely Return: Late Round Pick

Mitchell, a second-round pick just a year ago, has yet to flourish in Indianapolis. Mitchell started just seven games in his rookie season and just one this season. The 23-year-old is averaging 15.0 yards per catch through his first 22 games and has shown glimpses of being a true deep threat in the NFL.  Mitchell’s recorded seven catches for 137 yards this year.

The upcoming bye week should serve as an early trade deadline for Buffalo. The bye provides ample time for a new acquisition to learn the playbook and develop some team chemistry.
