The demise of the Buffalo Bills’ defense was greatly exaggerated, at least for one week. The Buffalo Bills dominate the New York Jets and win this game 30-10.
The Bills’ defense dominated the Jets today. The run game was nonexistent, and the passing game was COMPLETELY nonexistent. In fact, the Bills gave up the fourth-fewest yards in a single game in the Sean McDermott era.
Justin Fields had fewer passing yards in 3 quarters than Mitchell Trubisky had on one pass – replacing Allen for two plays after his nose started bleeding.
It was complete and utter domination.
The passing game never got going on the offensive side of the ball. Thank god for James Cook.
21 carries, 132 yards and 2 TDs. James Cook proved why he was worth the significant contract extension today – he was the best offensive player by a mile.
But the story of this game was the trenches. It’s not sexy. It’s not flashy. But the Bills’ offensive and defensive lines MAULED the Jets for 60 minutes today. The Bills did struggle a bit in pass protection – but in the run game? MAULERS. It felt like James Cook wasn’t getting touched until he got 5-6 yards down the field.
And the defense—what else can we say? The Jets ‘ 154 total yards are an exceptional defensive performance for Buffalo. Even without Ed Oliver, the defensive line dominated. Joey Bosa forced two fumbles, showing why he was worth the risk with his one-year contract. He’s been inconsistent at times but also outright dominant.
It’s been a massive difference for the defense through two weeks. Christian Benford played a hell of a game in coverage and in the run game. Cole Bishop had his first sack and the safeties looked much more comfortable when they didn’t have to deal with Lamar Jackson.
Overall, all you can ask for is a performance like today. The Bills physically dominated an inferior Jets team and left no doubt. More of those, please, starting this Thursday at home against Miami.
