Yankees-Red Sox, Salt and Pepper, Beauty and the Beast, tale as old as time as they say. These teams are getting set to do battle in Boston this weekend, starting a 5-game divisional series and despite Boston's tremendous regular season the Red Sox only find themselves (-160) to win the series. On one side you always expect it to be close with the way these two teams play, (57-57 since 2013) on the flippity flip you absolutely have to respect what Boston's done over these past 6 months.
But like any decent reality show...THE TIME FOR RESPECT IS OVVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. These teams are set to do battle in this ALDS which will undoubtedly add another chapter to the volumes of this rivalry. Why worry about the Skip Bayless', why track what the Buster Olney's or Tim Kurkjian's are saying....when we can see what the local superstars and pundits got to say.
Nate Geary (WGR, Cover 1, Your wifey's favorite DJ)---(Red Sox in 5)
"Because...FUCK the Yankees."
Kevin Massare (Locked On Bills)---(Yankees in 5)
"The Yankees face off with the Red Sox for the first time since the crazy 2004 debacle. These two teams matchup very well against each other, with the season series going 10-9 in favor of the Red Sox. I have the Yankees knocking off the Red Sox in 5 (3-2) in Boston. All the pressure is on the Red Sox."
Patrick Moran (Moran-Alytics Podcast)---(Yankees in 4)
"The Red Sox have better starting pitching, better hitting, the more reliable closer and home field advantage. There’s only one thing they don’t have---an endorsement from the Moran-Alytics Podcast. Yanks drop game but one but steal the second in Beantown before winning two straight in the Bronx and take the series, 3-1 on the strength of ALDS MVP Giancarlo Stanton."
Matt Bové (WKBW/Our BFF)---(Red Sox in 5)
"As a Red Sox fan, I'm genuinely concerned. (Editor's Note: This is the first time on record he's been genuine with Trainwreck) IF Sale can jump out to a fast start and dominate Game 1 then I'm confident Boston will prevail. If they drop the first game all bets are off. Sox in 5."
Frank in Cheektowaga (CNN/60 Minutes)---(Red Sox in 4)
This will be very entertaining I will be pounding the OVER for "Angry Sal Maiorana tweets" and the UNDER on "Happy Sal Capaccio tweets." And if neither tweets, we'll SAL without'em!
Jeremy White (WGR)---(Red Sox in 5)
"The Red Sox because....fuck the Yankees?"
Jenna Harner (WIVB)---(Red Sox in a "thrilling" 5)
"The two teams are meeting for the first time in the postseason since the greatest ocmeback of all time, theres no way this series doesnt go five games. The Red Sox relievers also give me agita. I'm going Boston in a thrilling 5."
Sal Maiorana (Rochester D&C)---(Red Sox in 5)
"It's rather odd to see so many in the national media discount the Red Sox 108 wins. That wasn't an accident. That offense can be lethal, and if the Yankees pitchers wobble in any way, the Red Sox can explode. However, if the Yankees work counts and get into that Boston bullpen, they can do some damage, too. Red Sox in five."
Sal Capaccio (WGR, Bills, Superstar of Our Dreams)---(Yankees in 5)
"The Red Sox lineup is unbelievable. The top of their order is right up there with some of the best of all-time. It's going to be a really big challenge for the Yankees, but Happ has been terrific the last two months and good against the Sox over his career. The only area the Red Sox have an issue is middle relief. The Yankees need to get them there. It's going to be an epic series. Yankees in five."
