The Buffalo Bills got a heavy dose of Jonathan Taylor last Sunday to the tune of four touchdowns and 185 rushing yards. The Bills were completely bullied. The absence of Star Lotulelei and Tremaine Edmunds proved to be pivotal.
The offense couldn’t get into any sort of rhythm. The Bills were down 17-7 getting the ball back with two minutes left. They could’ve driven down the field for either a field goal or touchdown to make it a one score game going into halftime. On the kickoff, McKenzie fumbles the ball and hands it right back to the Colts and a couple plays later punch in another touchdown to go up 24-7 going into halftime. That was the game right there.
The Bills dropped to 6-4 and get leaped by the Patriots for first place in the division. This is one of the most inconsistent teams I have ever watched, but they have proved to bounce back after embarrassing losses and they had the chance to do that Thursday night on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving night, clear eyes, full bellies, can’t lose. Coming off the high of that wild Raiders/Cowboys game, it was time to settle in for the Bills game with hopes they can rebound against the injury riddled Saints.
Rebound they did. Buffalo’s first drive of offense in the game, Allen found Knox on a screen pass and he took it in the go up 7-0. A bit of an offensive stall would take place going into the 2nd half, but the defense was playing lights out.
The Bills took a 10-0 lead into halftime. The story of the first half was when Tre White went down on a non contact knee injury. The Bills came out in the 2nd half clicking on all cylinders. The Allen to Diggs connection was unstoppable. Buffalo went on to win 31-6. Unfortunately, Tre White is out for the season with a torn ACL. This is a catastrophic loss for the Bills defense, as their cornerback depth is the worst on their team. The Mafia traveled and took over New Orleans and the Superdome. Yet again, proof that Buffalo has the best fan base in the NFL.
Speaking of fanbases, the St. Bonaventure students and alumni showed up in droves to Charleston, SC last weekend. The Bonnies came into the Charleston classic ranked #22 in the country. This was the highest the Bonnies have been ranked since the 1970’s.
The school with 2,000 students in Olean, New York had the most fans in TD arena by far. The tournament consisted of the Bonnies, Boise St, West Virginia, Clemson, Temple, Ole Miss, Marquette, and Elon. The Bonnies beat Boise St in a tight game on Thursday, 67-61.
Friday’s second round game was against the Clemson Tigers. The Bonnies were down the entire first half and ended up being down 10 heading into halftime. This Bonnies team is lead by their starting 5 seniors. They came out firing in the 2nd half and miraculously pulled off an all-time comeback, beating the Tigers 68-65. TD arena was mayhem. The Bonnies were onto the championship to face a red hot Marquette squad.
Riding high after two stressful and massive wins, the Bonnies v Marquette matchup was projected to be a tight game. That was not the case. The Bonnies played their best game of the young season thus far and throttled Marquette from start to finish. They went on to win the Charleston Classic with a convincing 70-54 victory.
This is the best Bonnies team since the Bob Lanier led team in the 70’s. Watch out for the Bonnies this season as they are going to make a lot of noise. The Bonnies are now ranked #16 in the nation.
